Victorian Open Water Swim Calendar

Since 2017, this has been a great season-opener for the open water season. Get prepared for the big swimming events this summer. Close to the beach, with a feeding station and new improved course.

The Swim event at the Corporate Games is a great opportunity to kick start your summer of open water swimming. Join the short course event at South Melbourne beach, in either individual and/or team relay events.

This year, RipSwim is launching a fun and original event, suitable for novices to fast swimmers, in the style of a "Gift" (like the Stawell Gift). Each swimmer is given a "mark", which means anyone of any age or ability might win!

The Lake Boga Bank 2 Bank is an inland open water swim across Lake Boga in Northern Victoria.

Cash prizes, other swim/run/walk events on offer, guest speakers and much more available.

You need to supply your own support paddler - see Facebook for info about kayak hire and paddlers.

The Vic OW Championships will be making a big splash in the beautiful regional city of Geelong, run in conjunction with the SV & MSV OW Champs.

Also includes nipper swim, novice swim and beach run events.

The Burson Rock2Ramp is held on the 28th Dec each year in the protected surf beach inside Point Roadnight.

1st swim in the Shipwreck Coast Swim Series (with Portland, Warrnambool and Port Campbell).

Held on the gorgeous Port Fairy East Beach. Swim out through the break, along the beach and then back in to the finish.

Be a part of the Waratah Beach SLSC swim in Shallow Inlet. Swimming with the current in the sheltered waters of the inlet is a great introduction to salt water swimming.

One of the main events in the Victorian OWS calendar.

The event is run by the Jan Juc SLSC at the calm, protected and picturesque location that the locals fondly refer to as "Cosy Corner". This idyllic setting is protected by Point Danger.

2nd swim in the Shipwreck Coast Swim Series (with Port Fairy, Warrnambool and Port Campbell).

Held in the protected waters of Nuns Beach.

The world-famous swim from the Lorne pier to the Lorne beach.

The Bay Open Water Swimmers present the BOWS Marathon Swim at the Black Rock Yacht Club. Wetsuit and Non Wetsuit Categories for all distances, and can be used as a qualifier for various events - see website for details.

Mostly straight-line course with the tide.

Run by the Mornington Life Saving Club.

The only twilight swim in the Victorian calendar.

Swim from Portsea with the outgoing tide to the Quarantine station.

This classic swim on the Mitchell River at Bairnsdale returned in 2024. It's 2.5km from the Lind Bridge to the Howitt Park rowing club landing.

The event hub for registration, finish area and post-event presentation is at Howitt Park.

Part of the Echuca Moama Triathlon Club Multisport weekend of events.

Swim starts at the Onion Patch at the Port of Echuca. Swim down the Murray River to Morrisons Winery for BBQ and festivities.

Spectators can also travel to & from Morrisons aboard a paddlesteamer.

Presented by The Rotary Club of Brighton in association with The Brighton Lifesaving Club.

Diamond-shaped course in the clear waters off the Mt Martha beach - a regular favourite, with a sparkling commentary.

The longest-running open water swim in Victoria, in the beautiful Lady Bay.

Starting west of the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club and finishing on the beach at the clubhouse.

Swim across "The Rip" at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay!

Cross the Rip in small groups with support boats and trained staff.

1 scheduled crossing this summer.

Contingency in case of bad weather is the following day.

The Rip Race is back! Race across "The Rip" at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay!

There will be up to 50 places available for swimmers who can swim under 54 minutes for 3km. This is also a no-wetsuit race to ensure a level playing field. Check the website for more details and updates.

The swim runs along the beach from Lagoon Pier Port Melbourne to Kerferd Pier Albert Park. Ideal for spectators to walk along and watch their swimmer, or stand on the pier at either end and see the start or finish.

Limited street (ticket) parking available. Try the No.1 Sth Melb Beach tram, which goes very close to the life saving club.

Held at the iconic Dendy Beach bathing boxes in front of the Brighton LSC clubhouse.

Straight-line swim along the beach from Edithvale to Aspendale.

Swim in the calm protected waters of Half Moon Bay on the Bellarine Peninsula.

A new event in 2024. It's hosted by the not-for-profit Mornington Peninsula Triathlon Club and the perfect way to kick off the Frankston Waterfront Festival.

Victoria's very own ultra marathon swim, from Safety Beach to Sorrento.

Pre-registration on the event website.

Limited to 100 solos or tandems and 10 x 4 person relays. Age limit 18+

4th swim in the Shipwreck Coast Swim Series (with Port Fairy, Portland and Warrnambool).

Held in the breathtaking cliff-bound bay of Port Campbell, the course challenges swimmers to a lap of the bay.

Swim around the wreck of the Cerberus in Half Moon Bay, Sandringham.

Join in the world's largest FREE open-water swim.

Note that this year the swim is on the weekend before the Pako Festa in Geelong.

Part of the Nagambie On Water festival over the weekend.

It's a short 600m or full 1.1 km swim in Lake Nagambie, open to all ages and swimmers.

Swim from Sorrento to Portsea, tide-assisted.

Entries open 1 Dec and will sell out in less than 90 mins!

Swim from Beaumaris LSC to Mentone LSC.

It's a fun, relaxed swim and is not a race. Previous swims have included champion swimmers such as Chloe McCardel.

The Williamstown Open Water Championship "The WOW Challenge" is Victoria's world class, championship distance, open water swim event.

The WOW Challenge is for everyone: champions, weekend warriors, kids, multiclass, fast, slow, young and old!

Designed around a 2.5km course with feeding stations. NO kayak or boat support required!

This is a fantastic event for experienced open water swimmers wanting to test themselves with a Marathon distance.

10km has individual, duo and teams.

The Beachside Sand Classic was a new event in 2024 within the City of Kingston. Supported by the City of Kingston and our key community club the Mordialloc Life Saving Club.

Ocean Swimming on the edge of Bass Strait at the heart of the Great Ocean Road, in a absolutely gorgeous area.

Easter swim hosted by the Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club, with egg & bacon roll plus coffee included, as well as a free towel for the 1st 100 entries!

A magical unforgettable swim into the sunset on the Winter Solstice on a lit course at Williamstown.

The Frostbite swim is part of the Night Tide Winter Solstice Festival at the Searoad Ferries terminal at Queenscliff.

For the serious swimmers, challenge yourself to a 500m winter swim. Or for the not-so-serious, try a fancy dress dip in the Fancy Dress Float!

Port Fairy SLSC and Port Fairy Winter Weekends presents the annual Solstice Swim. Gold coin donation, hot milo/tea/coffee, bacon & egg rolls.
